Small team, steady work, honest approach

We started Sinar AI because we kept seeing small business owners in Malaysia sitting on tools they didn't know how to use — or spending hours on tasks that didn't need a human every time.

Our story

Where Sinar AI came from

Sinar AI was founded in Ipoh, Perak, by people who had spent years working alongside small business owners — in retail, in services, in food and beverage — and noticed the same pattern. Good, hardworking people were losing hours each week to the same recurring tasks, unanswered customer messages, and reports that never quite made sense.

AI had become capable enough to help with exactly these things. But most AI tools were built for large organisations with dedicated IT teams. They were complicated, expensive, and frankly intimidating for someone running a business of five or ten people.

We set out to change that. Sinar — the Malay word for a ray of light — felt right. Not a floodlight, not something overwhelming. Just enough light to see the next step clearly. That's what we try to bring to every business we work with.

Our mission

What we're here to do

Our mission is simple: help small businesses in Malaysia work with AI in a way that feels manageable and genuinely useful. We don't push tools for the sake of tools. We start by understanding your business, your week, and where the friction actually is.

Honest assessment first. We won't recommend anything if we don't think it will genuinely help.

Plain communication throughout. No jargon, no unnecessary complexity in how we explain things.

Respectful of your time and data. We work carefully with business and customer information. PDPA compliance is part of every engagement.

Local, practical perspective. We understand how business works in Ipoh, in Perak, and across Malaysia.

How we work

Standards we hold ourselves to

These aren't a list of certificates on a wall. They're how we approach every project, because small business owners deserve professional care regardless of company size.

PDPA-Aligned Data Handling

All client and customer data is handled in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act. We document what we use and why, and we don't keep data beyond what's needed.

Written Scope Before Work Begins

We put the agreed scope in writing before any work starts. What's included, what the timeline looks like, and what you'll receive at the end — no ambiguity.

Discovery Before Recommendations

Every engagement starts with a conversation. We won't recommend tools or approaches until we understand your business, your week, and where the actual friction is.

Small Steps Panel Approach

Each project is broken into a few clear, manageable stages. You always know what's happening next and why. Progress is visible, not hidden behind a closed door.

Plain Documentation Handover

At the end of each project you receive notes written in plain language — not technical documentation. You should be able to read and act on them yourself.

Responsive During the Project

We respond to messages within one business day during an active engagement. Questions don't wait until the next scheduled meeting.

About our work

AI integration in a Malaysian small business context

Small businesses in Malaysia operate in a particular kind of environment — one that blends relationship-based customer service, lean teams, and the very real pressure of running everything yourself. AI tools that work well in large corporate settings don't always translate. The setup is different, the budget is different, and the time available to learn something new is different.

Sinar AI works specifically within that context. We've helped owners in retail, F&B, professional services, and trades find places where AI can take over the repetitive — answering the same ten customer questions, turning raw sales figures into something readable, handling parts of the weekly admin that eat into time better spent elsewhere.

Our work is always shaped by what the business already has. We don't require new software subscriptions or complex infrastructure. We look at what's already in place and figure out where a small, well-chosen AI tool can slot in without disrupting everything else.

We're based in Ipoh and serve businesses across Perak and beyond. English is our working language, and we're familiar with the mix of Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin that defines daily business life in this part of the country.
